As you want to feel safe during this Covid era, by limiting your interaction with people you do not know. Our tour price individual & based on minimum of 2 people travelling together on their own Private Tour.  No other clients are booked on your tour dates you book with us.

If you are more than 2 that want to travel with "Just Your Own Group", please do let us know and we work out a discounted rate for 3 & more travelling together.

Transport

  • Transport for 2 - 3 clients will be in 4x4 Toyota Cruiser with bikes on roof rack or bike trailer.
  • 4 and more clients, transport will be in a custom build Safari Truck, with a bike trailer.
 

The dunes of the Namib

Day 1 - Windhoek

Arriving in Windhoek, it’s time to relax after your flight and get familiar with your bike. Bike set-up will be done today and if needed adjust seats & clip-in pedals. If time we can undertake a short cycle route at nearby farm. Evening dinner can be enjoyed at Joe’s Beerhouse, the best-known restaurant in Namibia with Namibian cuisine with a German twist, best steal in town & coldest beer.

Cycling in the Namib Desert

Day 2 - Gamsberg & Rooisand

Leaving Windhoek, it is a short transfer to the Khomas Hochland at the top of the Kupferberg pass for the start of today’s cycling for 40km. We transfer to the top of Gamsberg pass, rolling by the 3rd highest mountain in Namibia with views stretching for 100’s of km’s over the horizon, giving us a first glimpse of the desert scenery that will be our companion for the next 7 days. We cycle past Hartman’s Mountain Zebra and eventually break camp at the oasis of Rooisand for our first night under the Namib stars.

Namib Naukluft Cycling

Day 3 - Namib Naukluft

Today’s cycle from Rooisand takes us close to Guab pass and on to a famous lunch stop at Solitaire before continuing to Sesriem area and the iconic Sossusvlei. Tonight, we have dinner under the stars near, lights out early in preparation for tomorrow’s sunrise ride.

Day 4 - Dune 45 & Sossusvlei

We are up before the sun this morning, transferring to the gates of Sesriem, where we start our cycling journey towards the magnificent sand dunes of the Namib Desert. This cycling experience this morning between the highest sand dunes in the world, will leave your jaw-dropped of this natural wonder, which you will never forget. We stop at Dune 40, to climb to the top to view the superb Tsauchab River Canyon while breakfast is being set up at the bottom of the dune. After breakfast we take a two hour walk at Hiddenvlei and Deadvlei before heading back to our guest farm where the luxury of a cool swimming pool and a hot shower awaits.

Cycling in Namibian National Parks

Day 5 - Namib Desert to Swakopmund

After breakfast we take a short transfer, continuing our journey north, cycling towards the Tropic of Capricorn. If conditions allow, we have the option of cycling over the Kuiseb Pass or a different route towards the coast. With luck we should see ostrich, springbok, gemsbok, and mountain zebras. Once again, we end our ride in the shadow of Guab Pass before transferring to Walvis Bay known for its flamingos. From here we continue to Swakopmund driving along with the ocean on the right and the sand dunes on the left.

Day 6 - Swakopmund

After breakfast we undertake an amazing 3-hour fat bike ride on the dunes and over the gravel plains. Today we offer a number of optional activities. If you feel like Quad Biking or Sand Boarding or Sky Diving or signing up for the Dolphin Cruise - then just fill out the booking form with your Trip Leader. If you do not feel adventurous you can do shopping or visit the Crystal Gallery, Museums, or the Aquarium by foot.

Day 7 - Swakopmund to Spitzkoppe

We depart Swakopmund by vehicle after an early breakfast and drive through the amazing moon landscape. We see up close the largest and oldest plant, Welwitschia Mirabilis, practically a living fossil at 1,500 years old. We continue to the Spitzkoppe (German for “pointed dome”; also referred to as Spitzkop, Groot Spitzkop, or the “Matterhorn of Namibia”) which is part of a group of bald granite peaks located between Usakos and Swakopmund. The granite is more than 700 million years old and the highest outcrop rises about 1,784 meters (5,853 ft) above sea level. We have opportunity to cycle throughout the day and will spend the night under the stars.

Day 8 - Spitzkoppe to Brandberg

After a relaxing start we cycle past the Spitzkoppe boulders. We approach the imposing Brandberg Mountain in Damaraland on our bicycles – a sight to behold – the highest mountain in Namibia! This is where the rare desert elephant roam and the meerkat rule!

Day 9 - Brandberg to Etosha National Park

After a relaxing start to the morning, we transfer to Etosha National Park, one of Southern Africa's best game viewing parks. Here we go on a late afternoon game drive in search of the various wildlife in the park which includes elephants, rhino, and lions. When at camp we have the opportunity to sit by the watering hole which is flood lit at night and enjoy the living theatre which unfolds as animals come down to the water to drink.

Day 10 - Etosha National Park

Today is dedicated to going on safari. We will go on morning and afternoon game drives and will have the opportunity to relax back at camp during the heat of the day when the wildlife hides from the hot Namibian sun.

Day 11 - Etosha National Park to Otjiwa

We leave Etosha national Park behind and transfer approximately 120km to Otjiwa, the oldest safari lodge in Namibia. After lunch we go on an afternoon ride along on the jeep tracks and hopefully see some of the local wildlife.

Day 12 - Otjiwa to Waterberg

This morning we then transfer to the gravel roads towards the Waterberg Plateau, we will start cycling on the gravel roads about 40km where we will have the glimpse of the impressive red table mountain formation of the Plateau in front of us. Our cycling journey ends at our accommodation, where we can cool off in the pool and enjoy our last night on tour. This afternoon we will also have the opportunity to go for a walk to the top of the Waterberg Plateau.

Day 13 - Waterberg to Windhoek

After a sumptuous breakfast we transfer back to Windhoek where the tour ends.

* SH - Standard Hotels, Lodges or Guest Houses, usually with twin or single rooms and en-suite facilities. These are generally standard, no-frills hotels perfectly accepted to most, do not expect too much. These are often small, family run establishments.

* CH - Comfortable Hotels, Lodges or Guest Houses with twin or single rooms and en suite facilities. Generally good levels of service and often added amenities such as restaurant, bar, swimming pool and garden.

Namibia have good tourism infrastructure and generally good service standards. Throughout this trip we stay in comfortable lodges which are simple, comfortable, and clean.

All safaris are sold as a private fully inclusive package and include the following:

  • Service of a Trained Safari Guided Driver
  • Transport, accommodation, and all National Park Entrance Fees
  • Meals stated as on above itinerary
  • Meals can be either purchased picnic style lunch or at accommodation / Meals that are not included are on client’s own expense, budget +/- N$ 300.00 per person for dinner at parks restaurants and +/- N$ 150.00 per person for lunches.
  • Activities included as set out in above itinerary
  • Camping Options: All camping equipment for camping nights includes 2-man dome tent, which thick sleeping mattress with sleeping bag, pillow, tables, and chairs. Meals on camping can either be purchased picnic style meals or your guide will prepare at camp.

NOTE that alternative lodges can be used if the above lodges are fully booked.
